Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. It is provided free of charge.

With Scratch,  our 4th grade students learned about the Cartesian Coordinate System.   The objective of the program:

  • have a sprite (character)  jump to a quadrant
  • change colors
  • make a sound
  • identify the x and y values of the quadrant

Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively  essential skills for life in the 21st century.  Below is an image of the program code.

AnyVideo Converter

AnyVideo Converter is an awesome piece of software that allows to to not only snag video from youTube but to also change the video format for various mobile devices.  Video can then be edited in Movie Maker.

An easy way to create an animated video! I just jumped in without a plot just trying to learn how to use the software.( As you can see by the video below.) A great program for student use. What I didn't care for were the number guns and knives found in the props area that can be used in the creation of your video.

Problem with the program....our school blocks streaming video sites!!

Many use PowerPoint for teacher and student presentations. With authorSTREAM you upload your presentation to the cloud where it can be shared vial email, or embedded into you web page or blog as seen below.  I uploaded a presentation that include audio and video to see how well auhorSTREAM handled   It is free! Of course they would like you to purchase various templates.  worth looking into.

What I wanted to look at was how to Present Live. Click Here for Present Live! Attendee sign-up required.  Pro-Plan $2.95/month  billed yearly.

Enjoyed using Audioboo!  My Be The Change Boo was created on my pc desktop using an external microphone.  I also download the app and created another Boo using my iPad.  Easy to use!
  1. Got my script
  2. This week, our schools Be the Change Team will be selling handmade bracelets for the Pulsera Project. Each bracelet is woven and unique. Attached to it is a tag with the name and picture of the person or child that made it. 100% of all proceeds go back to the Pulsera Project, which fund fair trade jobs, scholarships, community programs, interest free micro-loans, support for youth shelters, sustainable energy initiatives and more in the countries of Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Uganda. Support these artists and the projects that it supports by purchasing a Pulsera for $5 at lunch this week.

What a FANTASTIC graphic organizer/bookmark. Click here to view my TechTimes Pearl

TechTimes Pearl

The only thing I didn't like about it.....the inappropriate topics that can be searched!  This is the reason why this site has been blocked!

  • Click once on a pearl and a description appears.
  • A scrolling slide then can be used to see other links.
  • Click on the description and you are taken to that web page!
